Kisii University Robes MBChB Class of 2031 in White Coat Ceremony
Kisii University’s School of Health Sciences held a White Coat Ceremony on Friday, 26th June, formally robing its MBChB Class of 2031 into the medical profession. While the class has already been in session, the ceremony marked the cohort’s symbolic entry into clinical training and the values that define the practice of medicine.
The event was officiated by Dr. Raymond Oigara, Dean of the School of Health Sciences at Kisii University and a UoN MBChB Class of 1992 alumnus. He was joined by Madam Evelyne, CEO of KMA SACCO, and Fidel Castro, President of the Medical Students Association of Kisii University (MSAKU), in donning the students with their white coats.
The white coat ceremony is a long-standing rite of passage in medical training, representing a commitment to professionalism, compassion, and patient care.
Speaking at the event, MSAKU President Fidel Castro congratulated the students and reflected on the journey ahead. “On behalf of the Medical Students Association of Kisii University, and in my capacity as President, I congratulate you all on this White Coat Ceremony,” he said. “Today marks more than receiving a white coat. It marks the beginning of a lifelong commitment to knowledge, compassion, integrity, and service to humanity.”
Held under the university’s banner of “Inclusivity and Borderlessness,” the ceremony celebrated the students’ continuing journey in medicine and the values that will guide their careers.
